Cans & Bottles
Transparent or opaque cans, bottles, jars and their lids; with individually tailored barrier action. The same goes for MedEco bioplastics. You can choose between materials with high melt stability for blow moulding and extrusion blow moulding and thin injection moulding materials. This way, you won't have any problems with extracables or leachables, but always pack sustainably.
For cans & bottles we recommend the following MedEco types:
MedEco XPI C3
MedEco ICB
MedEco XCB
Drug Delivery Devices
Precise components for reliable and sustainable autoinjectors and inhalers - that's what our rigid and high-strength MedEco bioplastics make possible. Also available in transparent, always with a nice feel, and most importantly: consistent properties and full change control. This is how the next generation of their drug delivery devices will be future-proof.
For Drug Delivery Devices we recommend the following MedEco types:
MedEco ICB
MedEco IGH
Drug Management
You need transparent components with the highest dimensional stability and precision, or soft, transparent tubes? You don't want problems with extractables or additive leaching? And an excellent carbon footprint? No problem, our MedEco plastics are made for drug management.
For drug management applications, we recommend the following MedEco types:
MedEco ICB
MedEco XPI C3
MedEco IPI

Advantages through technical properties
Bioplastics for pharmaceutical packaging?
In addition to sustainability, can bioplastics keep up with their fossil predecessors? A clear yes, because bioplastics sometimes have even better properties: MedEco XCD, for example, has a higher barrier effect against water vapor and oxygen than PET. Our materials often have higher mechanical strengths and lower processing temperatures, which save energy during manufacturing.
"Very good and also cost-effective alternatives are the bioplastics PLA and also PEF in the medium term. We rely on these polymers for our MedEco XCB, XYI and XCD. Not only are they very well suited for film production and blowing processes, but they also have a very low carbon footprint, very good mechanical properties and very good recyclability. They are highly transparent and have very good barrier properties (PEF) or can be coated or used in composite systems (PLA)," – Plastic expert Dr.-Ing. Vinzenz Nienhaus
Benefits from sustainability aspects
Recyclable packaging is in demand!
As well as protecting their contents, sustainability is increasingly important. This is also true for pharmaceutical packaging, as the EU's Packaging Directive puts pressure on it. It also affects pharmaceutical packaging, calling for all packaging to be fully recyclable by 2030. An exception for primary packaging in direct contact with products will only apply until 2035.
„Our MedEco bioplastics for medical devices & pharmaceutical packaging are designed for the future: they’re made from renewable resources, recyclable, PFAS-free and reduce the carbon footprint of your application or packaging by up to 85%.” – Sustainability expert Carmen Rommel
- 100% recyclable
- 85% less CO2 possible
- 0% PFAS
